buccanos history
Let's embark on a journey through time to explore the fascinating evolution of Buccanos over the past 60 + years!
Our story begins in 1960 with the beginnings of Hotel Cozumel Caribe, crafted with care by the visionary Fernando Barbachano Peón, offering a cozy retreat with just 16 rooms. When Fernando Barbachano Peón passed away in 1964, his son, Fernando Barbachano Gómez Rul, took the helm, steering the property toward expansion. By the swinging '70s, the hotel had blossomed to over 80 rooms, welcoming guests with open arms.
In 1977, a towering addition transformed the landscape, boasting a grand total of 257 rooms and captivating panoramic views. Then, as the tides of tourism shifted in 1985, the hotel adapted to the changing currents, pioneering the new "All-Inclusive" experience in Cozumel and re-branding itself as Club Cozumel Caribe.
However, every adventure has its ups and downs, and in October 2001, the curtains temporarily closed. Yet, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Buccanos emerged anew in 2007 under the vibrant banner of BUCCANOS, rejuvenated and ready to make a splash once more.
Fast forward to 2017, when Buccanos at Nights Terrace was inaugurated, adding another layer of enchantment to our seaside oasis. Buccanos offers both a daytime and nighttime experience, thanks to our dedicated staff who work tirelessly to make everything possible. Buccanos is the result of Ines' beautiful recipes and dreams, Bosco's eloquence and passion, Carina's art and creativity, and Juan's architectural visions and desire to continue the family's legacy. It remains a family business that continues to thrive.
As we reflect on this remarkable journey, we personally want to extend our deepest gratitude to each and every client who has shared in our dreams and made Buccanos the beacon of hospitality it is today. Your patronage has not only shaped our story but has filled it with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Here's to many more years of sun, sand, and unforgettable moments together!
